El 24 de febrero de 1867, mujeres paraguayas de distintas clases sociales entregan al gobierno nacional en la persona del Vice Presidente de la República Don Francisco Sánchez, sus joyas para ayudar a solventar los gastos de la defensa nacional en la Guerra contra la Triple Alianza; por ello hoy se conmemora el Día de la Mujer Paraguaya.
Nuestras mujeres tuvieron que participar de una Guerra inmisericorde, al ver caer a sus esposos, hermanos e hijos; tuvo que blandir la espada y usar sus manos para defender a su Nación,y luego en la Pos Guerra labrar la tierra y alimentar a los restos de la Nación que quedó casi sin hombres, sumergida en la extrema miseria e invadida por el siniestro ejercito “civilizador”.
Sometida a todo tipo de humillaciones y vejámenes, abusada en sus derechos, violada sistemáticamente en su propia tierra por el miserable invasor, ella igual resistió como ninguna otra en este mundo y de sus vientres renació el Paraguay, es por eso ella GLORIOSA y GUERRERA; pues de sus brazos fuertes pero tiernos se ha sostenido la PATRIA.
Aquellas mujeres fueron nuestras madres y hermanas, sangre de nuestra sangre derramada hasta hoy IMPUNE, siguen sufriendo el olvido y la indiferencia, veneno inyectado en nuestro suelo por el vencedor de esa Guerra infame.
Mujer Paraguaya, Guerrera, Residenta, destinada, Labradora de la tierra, enfermera en la Guerra del Chaco y fuente de vida que ha hecho RENACER al Paraguay, tus hijos orgullosos te decimos, GRACIAS..
